Project Overview

Crown Point, IN

Located in the center of Lake County and known as “The Hub of Lake County,” Crown Point experienced an increase in population, resulting in a higher demand for water supply. The City of Crown Point hired consulting engineers McDonough Associates to address its water supply and storage needs. After researching available alternatives, the project team determined that an AWWA D110 Type III wire-wound prestressed concrete water storage tank would be the optimal solution because of its inherent long life span, durability, and negligible need for maintenance. Preload, a recognized industry leader, was selected as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 1998, the 3.0 MG Preload prestressed concrete tank has a side water depth of 32’ and an inside diameter of 127’ 4”. It features architectural treatments of accented pilasters and dome ring. Preload is proud to have supplied the area with an aesthetically pleasing, durable tank with a long life span and low cost of ownership.
