Project Overview

Fort Wayne, IN

Located in Northeastern Indiana, Fort Wayne is near the Ohio and Michigan borders. The City of Fort Wayne selected consulting engineer, HNTB, to design two “twin” equalization basins to provide extra storage for regulating water flow to the wastewater treatment facility during times of heavy rain. After researching available alternatives for this project, HNTB specified two AWWA D110 Type III wire-wound prestressed concrete tanks because of their structural integrity, long-term durability, and low cost of ownership. The design team selected Preload, with more than 80 years of experience designing and constructing prestressed concrete tanks, as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 2012, each tank holds 3.4 MG of water and has a side water depth of 23’. Preload is proud to have helped the City of Fort Wayne efficiently and effectively regulate water flow during heavy storm events.
