Grand Lake, CO
Established in 1881, Grand Lake sits at an elevation of 8,369 feet (2,551 m) and derives its name from the lake on whose shores it is situated: Grand Lake, the largest natural body of water in Colorado. In 2017, The town of Grand Lake retained Diamondback Engineering and Surveying to design a new 0.3 million gallon (MG) Clearwell water tank. After researching available tank options, the project teams selected an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tank which would be mostly buried and have a flat-column supported roof.
In July of 2017, Preload was selected as the general contractor for this project. Construction was unique due to the tight quarters and buried design. However, the views around the project were breathtaking. Preload overcame each challenge as they came and produced a wonderfully disguised tank to match the surrounding beauty.
This 0.3 MG Clearwell Water Storage Tank will provide reliable service to the City of Grand Lake for many decades to come.
