PRELOAD names Eden Prairie, MN Winner of the 2022 Concrete Decision Award, Top Tank of the Year
2022 produced some fantastic tanks for Preload. What better way to end this event than by announcing the annual Concrete Decision Award, Top Tank of The Year winner? Louisville, KY – PRELOAD LLC, the global leader in prestressed concrete tank design and construction, has tallied your votes and named the City of Eden Prairies’ 4.0 million gallons finished water storage tank in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, as its 2022 Concrete Decision Award, Top Tank.
About Eden Prairie:
The Eden Prairie Finished Water Tank holds 4.0 million gallons of treated water serving the local communities. This tank’s massive size includes an inner diameter of 140 feet and a high water level (HWL) of 35 feet. The ground storage tank design is unique as er engineered it to endure Minnesota’s harsh winters for many decades. The City of Edden Prairie selected this project as an efficient AWWA D110, Type III prestressed concrete tank. They chose this tank style because of its long-term durability, robust resistance to severe weather, and low maintenance cost.
Additionally, this year’s campaign registered hundreds of online votes for 20 tanks across the United States! This year’s second-place tank goes to Mobile Area Water and Sewer System’s EQ (MAWSS) Basins. These two ten million-gallon EQ basins mark the largest tanks represented in this year’s contest. The MAWSS planned this project and executed it to provide the Mobile community with much-needed EQ basins. They are secure and reliable to the residents of Mobile.
Third place goes to the City of Fairfax’s half-a-million gallon finished water storage tank in Fairfax, Iowa. This tank offers the community clean treated water, which will last decades.
Supporting our Communities:
PRELOAD will make a $3,000 donation to Water for People on behalf of the City of Eden Prairie. Preload will give an additional $1,500 donation on behalf of the first-runner-up, Mobile Area Water and Sewer Systems.
In addition to the donations to Water for People, a non-profit organization that promotes high-quality drinking water and sanitation globally, the winning community will have an exclusive jacket patch in the upcoming year featured by The Water Buffalos. This charitable organization raises funds and awareness for water projects through their annual ride to ACE and individual AWWA sectional meetings.
