Thermal Energy Storage
Kuwait University is embarking on one of the most ambitious campus development projects in the world. The massive “University City” is being designed and built from the ground up and will emerge over the next four years in a series of phases as part of a multibillion-dollar development initiative. Much emphasis has been placed on sustainability and “green” building design. The Master Plan proposes to utilize solar power, water recycling and re-use, and thermal energy storage (TES) as a part of an energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solution.
As a part of the University City project, Preload Middle East was contracted to provide two (2) 2.4 MG Thermal Energy Storage tanks that will serve the University as a part of two Central Utility Plants (CUP). The CUP’s will provide energy-efficient cooling for the 6-million square meter campus scheduled for commissioning in 2015.
