Project Overview

Angola, IN

Located in Steuben County in the northeast corner of Indiana, Angola is home to Trine University. Needing additional water storage for its rising population, the City of Angola hired engineering consultants the Bonar Group. After researching available alternatives, along with their costs and benefits, the Bonar Group determined that an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tank would best serve the City’s water storage and aesthetic needs. The project team selected Preload, recognized as an innovator in the prestressed concrete tank industry, as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 1998, this Preload tank, which holds 750,000 gallons of water, incorporates architectural pilasters with truncated arches. With its 58’ side water depth and 48’6” inside diameter, this tank is unusually tall for a prestressed concrete tank. Now a community landmark, this Preload tank prominently displays “City of Angola” just below its concrete dome roof.
