Project Overview

Amagansett, NY

Amagansett roughly corresponds to the hamlet by the same name in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, on the South Shore of Long Island. Amagansett derives its name from the Montaukett name for “place of good water” from a water source near Indian Wells beach. In 2019, the Suffolk County Water Authority Administration desired to design a new 0.9 million gallons (MG) finished water storage tank. After researching available tank options, the project team selected an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tank with a domed roof and membrane flooring.

In 2019, Preload was selected as the general contractor for the project. Preload overcame several challenges, including cold temperatures and rock-infested excavations. Despite the challenges, our crews created a beautiful tank hidden away on Long Island, which complements the surrounding property nicely.

This 0.9 MG Water Storage Tank will provide reliable service to the Suffolk County Water Authority Administration and their customers for many decades to come.
