Ford Heights, IL

Located 25 miles south of Chicago, the Village of Ford Heights needed another water storage tank for the community. Consulting engineers, Akhras Associates, Bridgeview, IL, was hired to manage this project. After researching the costs and benefits of available alternatives, Akhras determined that an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete water storage tank would be the most cost-effective and trouble-free water storage solution for Ford Heights. Preload, a recognized industry leader, was selected as the preferred tank builder.

In 2000, Preload designed and built this 1.25 MG prestressed concrete tank, with a side water depth of 31’ and an inside diameter of 83’. The tank includes a durable, free-span dome roof that can withstand the heavy snow loads experienced in this region of the country.
