Project Overview

Hudson, NH

The Town of Hudson is located on the border of Massachusetts and serves as a commuter town for the Greater Boston area. The town has been growing in recent years due to increasing employment opportunities in Boston. In response to this growth, the Town hired Weston & Sampson Engineers, Inc., Portsmouth, NH, to address additional water storage needs. After researching available alternatives and their costs and benefits, the project team specified an AWWA D110 Type III wire-wound prestressed concrete tank due to its proven cold climate performance and low maintenance requirements. Preload, a recognized innovator in the concrete tank industry, was selected as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 2006, this 945,000 gallon prestressed concrete standpipe has an inside diameter of 49’ and a side water depth of 67’. Its free-span concrete dome is designed to support the heavy snow loads experienced in this region of the country. With its durability and reliability, this Preload prestressed concrete tank will serve Hudson for many decades to come.
