Project Overview

Richardson, TX

Richardson is a fast-growing city that is home to the University of Texas at Dallas and to more than 5,000 businesses. With the significant increase in population came a rising demand for increasing the city’s water supply. The City of Richardson hired consulting engineers Black & Veatch to bring the people of Richardson an efficient water supply solution. After researching available options, Black & Veatch specified a 3.0 MG AWWA D110 Type III wire-wound prestressed concrete water storage tank. Preload, which has designed and constructed prestressed concrete tanks since the 1930’s, was selected as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 2002, this Preload prestressed tank has a side water depth of 17.5’ and an inside diameter of 170’. With its durability, reliability, and negligible need for maintenance, this Preload tank will serve the Richardson community for many decades to come.
