Project Overview

Katy, TX

Katy, Texas

Katy is approximately centered at the tripoint of Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties. In other words, the city is located just over half an hour outside of Houston, TX. The town was formally settled in the mid-1890s. In 2015, The Cinco Southwest Municipal Utility District began designing and constructing plans of two new 1 million gallons (MG) wastewater tanks. After researching available tank options, the project team at the Cinco Southwest Municipal Utility District selected two AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tanks. They chose excellent membrane flooring as well as dome roofing to house these beautiful tanks.

In 2015, Preload was selected as the tank builder for the project. The construction team completed the project in 2016 with the selection and help of AECOM Engineering. Reclaiming these two prestressed concrete tanks presented some unique challenges. The tight site in the Utility District’s facility only added to the overall degree of difficulty. With careful planning by the Construction team, Preload was able to overcome these challenges.

These two 1 MG wastewater tanks will provide reliable service to the Cinco Southwest Municipal Utility District for many decades to come.
