Project Overview

St Louis, MO

The City of St. Louis was founded on February 14, 1764, named after Louis IX of France. St. Louis is the second-largest city in Missouri, located near the confluence of the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers. In 2012, Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District retained CMT Engineering and designed a new 8.0 million gallon (MG) water storage tank. After researching available tank options, the project teams selected an AWWA D110 Type III prestressed concrete tank with an EIFS Facade design. This unique design disguises the tank to resemble an office building with windows. Also, the tank is visible while driving on I-70 near the St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

In 2012, Preload was selected as the general contractor for this project. Construction was unique due to the EIFS design and difficult job sight access point. However, the end product looks incredible. Preload’s crews overcame several challenges as they came and, as a result, produced a fantastic tank.

This 8.0 MG Water Storage Tank will provide reliable service to St. Louis for many decades to come.
