Project Overview

Lexington, KY

Lexington is the second-largest city in Kentucky and the county seat of Fayette County. Known as the “Horse Capital of the World,” it is the heart of the state’s Bluegrass region. Lexington was established in 1782. In 2015, the Lexington Fayette County Urban Govt. Division retained HDR Engineering, Inc. to design a new 11.0 million gallons (MG) Wet Weather wastewater tank. After researching available tank options, the project team selected an AWWA D110 Type II prestressed concrete tank with a domed roof and structural flooring.

In 2015, Preload was selected as the general contractor for the project. Preload overcame several challenges Wet Weather Storage Tanks bring by maintaining close coordination among all those on-site. Our crews created a beautiful tank that befits the surrounding region.

This 11.0 MG Water Storage Tank will provide reliable service to the Lexington Fayette County Urban Govt. Division and the surrounding areas for many decades to come.
