Raw Water Clarifier Tank

When a major Pulp and Paper mill in the southeast decided to upgrade their decades old water treatment plant, they evaluated both steel and prestressed concrete tank options. The overall lifecycle cost savings was a determining factor in their decision to construct an AWWA D110, Type III clarifier. Preload was selected to construct this 2.0MG raw water clarifier tank completed in 2016. Preload Engineer, Brett Henning designed the tank with a sloped conical floor and center pier to support the clarifier mechanism. The wall design incorporated structural supports for the radial launders with large wall pipe penetrations for influent and effluent. Tim Halloran coordinated with the owner who placed stringent safety requirements and work area limitations on the project.
